Colorado Field Ornithologists (CFO) is a non-profit, volunteer organization devoted to the study, conservation, and enjoyment of Colorado's birds. We are looking for bird enthusiasts just like you!

We are a statewide organization open to anyone interested in birds, including recreational birders and professional ornithologists. The diversity of our members' interests creates a dynamic organization and offers learning opportunities for all.

The Colorado Field Ornithologists Annual Birding Convention is the birding event of the year for Colorado birders! Meeting sites are selected throughout the state. Members can see new birds and habitats each year with field trips led by local experts. Events include presentations of research papers, workshops, and an evening banquet with a special guest speaker.

The CFO's 2014 Annual Convention will be held Thursday August 28 through Monday September 1 in Sterling, Colorado. Join us in the hunt for north eastern Colorado specialties on our many convention field trips based out of Sterling. Enjoy our Welcome Picnic, field trips, comradeship, shorebirds, early fall migrants, Team ID Challenge, academic paper session, and a great banquet with our special guest speaker, Jon L. Dunn—author and professional trip leader, described by Sandy Komito as the best field observer in North America. » read more
